I really wanted to stay here but they were completely full, they had a full doggy run, creek and trails. Pool also, just awesome!!! They are opening more spaces soon!!!
The owners made us prepay for our entire stay and then two days before our scheduled check out, called me and told me that we were supposed to be out of the cabin that day, that she had already rented it to someone for that night. I referred her to our Contract, that we had prepaid, and to note the check out date. She never apologized, and no one showed up that night and rented either of the other two (empty) cabins.
None of the cabins have a view. They all face each other and are surrounded by RVs that are permanent residents.
My husband & I are retired and have full timed here for over three years. Wonderful staff and owners, clean and quiet campground.
The kitchen had a lot of stuff that wasn't useful for someone who actually cooks. And the kitchen sinks are tiny. The oven was nasty. And the refrigerator froze everything on the top shelf while it barely kept things cold on the bottom shelf.
Stayed at this campground for a short time. Rented one of the cabins. We are full time RVers and our rig was in the shop so we thought this was a great alternative while we waited for our "home" to be complete. On way to campground owners called and asked where we were? We were then told there is a 5pm check in, with no option for late check in.... WAIT, WHAT???? Yes you have to be there by 5pm. There is so much paperwork to fill out upon arrival that check in took almost 30 minutes, with repeated reminders that we were there "late". We stayed a few days and entire time felt we were under a microscope by owner. He would actually follow husband and I to cabin when we came in after work. Sometimes he would want to chat, sometimes just sat and watched us. We wanted neither. Long days and tired. Leave us alone. If we want to chat we will come find you. Also we have a special needs daughter. He was so paranoid about her being there that he made reasons to stop and check on her. Kind in the right environment, but it seemed like it stemmed more from paranoia. This is a BEAUTIFUL clean and well kept park and I understand because of his due diligence it is able to remain that way... but CHILL OUT, please! We left and didn't extend just because it was overboard. We are travel professionals. I am a travel nurse and husband a Commercial construction superintendent. We are not going to trash your place or deal drugs out the back of our vehicle.... relax!!!
We were quiet, followed the rules (although no one else did) and caused no problems, yet a few days before our scheduled check out, when we had a cable tv problem, one owner told us that he couldn't wait for us to leave! Very RUDE!
The shower pressure was so low that we had to use the public showers to wash our hair! We chose these cabins because 1) we prefer to cook our own food, and 2) we have dogs.
The cabin had so much light pollution coming from both outside and inside the cabin that it was hard to sleep. They have street lights poorly positioned everywhere, and they use lights on top the power-supply poles to the RVs to notify the permanent residents when the electric bill is due.
About half the RVs in the Park are permanent residents. So all the best RV spots are permanently taken. And the general environment is one of busybodies and gossipyness.
Add to that the noise pollution because of all the RV generators cycling on and off all night. And the ceiling fan, which was unbalanced, made a constant "click-click-click" sound...without it on, it was too stuffy, but having it on meant yet another source of noise pollution.
It's really fun! Me and my friend went there once, and had a blast! There's a grill, fabulous cabins, and a river to play in. There are trails that are amazing to learn from! So stay at the Rio bonito! It Will Be The BEST Experience! !!
We have 2 dogs, which we paid a deposit for and the owner made us sign the Dog Rules notice not just once, but TWICE. Only no one else followed the Dog Rules except us... yet the owner was constantly nosing around our cabin to see if we were following the rules. I'm not going to even comment about her barky obnoxious dog that she has with her all the time.
Plus a horrible bed that gave me a backache every night... we barely got any sleep during our entire stay!
